Hillary Clinton’s Tour In Doubt After Cursing Out Heckler In Racist Tirade
In what could be a kiss of death for her nationwide tour, Hillary Clinton, former Secretary of State and 2016 presidential candidate exploded at a heckler in a racist tirade that left audiences stunned. The incident which occurred at the Philadelphia Specter this Tuesday could spell doom for Bill and Hillary Clinton’s “Crude Views Tour,” a grueling 20 city junket that was intended to be the power couple’s triumphant return to comedy. While flagging ticket sales already raised concerns for arenas hosting the couple, such venues believed concessions could make up for diminished sales. But now with a major Chardonnay company withdrawing sponsorship and with abrupt cancellations of performances in New York and Boston, it looks like it’s a rap for the Crude Views tour.
It all started shortly after Hillary Clinton took to the stage donning a skin-tight red leather jacket and a single glove covered in rhinestones. Upon entering the spotlight, the former secretary of state, 71, lit up a cigarette and took a long drag before launching into a hilarious bit on how progressives in Europe must confront the populist right by adopting their harsh policies on migrants. After reciting several raunchy, adult themed nursery rhymes, Clinton called proponents of single-payer healthcare “schmucks” in a series of jokes that fell flat with the audience.
At this point Jerome Kingston an African-American in the crowd shouted “You suck! You’re just a has been. Never were president- Secretary of State, that’s it”. Losing her composure, Clinton shouted at the heckler calling him a “super predator” which provoked audible gasps from the crowd. Leaving the stage in a huff, a bewildered John Podesta took the mic to inform the shocked comedy fans that the show was over and that there would be no refunds.
Needless to say the uproar has been swift as prominent members of the black community have called upon Clinton to apologize. Rosylyn Brock, the chair of NAACP called the remarks “ugly and unfortunate” and called upon Clinton to cancel the tour. Following a decidedly tepid and insincere apology on the Howard Stern show, Netflix announced plans to cancel an upcoming special they had been planning. Perhaps, this was all but inevitable? Many critics have dismissed Clinton’s comeback as “embarrassing” and claim that her persona is simply “too 90’s” and hasn’t kept up with the times. Other’s have suggested that her transition from clean, centrist, policy-oriented comedy toward “working blue” was forced and would never be a hit with fans. Veteran comic Eddie Pepitone thinks that she should have spent more time at open mics workshopping the material. “She should have gone to the clubs and tested it out first to see what worked and what didn’t work and then she could have triangulated her way to a great set”.
